'Stale Mate'

She's one up on a rainbow,
every colour at once.
I'm the absence of light.

A checkered past that the bishops won't see.

We want everyone to walk all over us
because we are board!

The Kings have long since fallen
but there's knights on the tiles.

Does everyone have their bread grilled?
